Impact with Art - January 2023

Art is meant to leave an impact on the viewer. Many people fall in love with a piece of art because of their emotional connection to it. The image may remind them of a favorite childhood memory, or the subject matter might evoke a feeling of peace and calmness. Art is about more than just adding color to a wall, it creates a unique experience for those spending time in the space.

Emerging Artist Series - pt 7: Will Foerster

      It is always difficult to begin writing an Emerging Artist blog. I am biased, obviously, but I always hope to translate my personal excitement and awe in an artist and their work to the readers, or viewers. ICONS - who is your ICON?

From admiration to aspiration, it is a common practice in the art world to iconize. The latest exhibition at Gallery500, showcases how our artists represent and reflect influences within their practice.  With a focus on physical figure and form, ICONS, featuring Barbara Betts, Brandon Santiago, Robert Shirk, Renee Lewis and Emerging Artist Will Foerster will be on display November 4, through January 1, 2023.   Will Foerster will take the spotlight as our most recent Emerging Artist. Back in Session: Emerging Artist Series pt 6 and Hurricane Ian - October 2022

School is back in session and so is the Fourth Annual Volusia County Schools Student exhibition at GALLERY500. Last year, we featured the student’s work as part of our Emerging Artist Series. This year, we are thrilled to continue to showcase these young artists emerging into our local arts community. This show has grown from twelve 2-D pieces in its initial year to now forty-eight works in a diversity of medias.     Each Year, Gallery Director Amber O’Neal works with Volusia County Schools Visual Arts Director, Bryce Hammond, to curate and install the works.
