Steel Metal Sculpture  (7" x 4.5"  7") powder coated by Bill Chapin

An architect by trade, Bill Chapin has accomplished many things in his career before becoming an artist. In 1966 he graduated Virginia University with a Bachelor of Architecture before enlisting in the U.S. military until 1970. In the army, he was the Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers and later was discharged with Captain ranking.

Starting with his time in the military, Bill led many large construction projects such as a discharge building in Thailand, the Walter Reed Hospital, and even our OceanWalk, Bethune Cookman University, Hyatt & Cici Brown Museum and led reconstruction of the Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences. Beyond his projects, Bill also served as the National President of the American Institute for Architects (AIA), that represents the majority of licensed architects in the country, leading him to visit over half of the states and travel to 8 foreign countries, meeting with world leaders, to discuss and educate on international practice issues around health and sustainability.

As a sculptor now, Bill uses his architect background and found objects to expertly construct strong abstract pieces meant to be placed inside or outside, even constructing pieces up to 15 feet.
