Annie abstracts her personal experiences and translates them to canvas. This painting depicts the phenomena of derealization, a form of disassociation. When one experiences derealization, the relationship between oneself and one's surroundings become foggy - altering their state of reality. The underpainting, full of color, becomes representative of self while the foreground is obscured with a wash of black.
