Collection: Raquel Rubi Castaneda
Native Havana Cuban artist and soprano singer, Raquel Rubi Castaneda earned her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at Florida International University then her PhD in Musical Arts at the University of Miami. Using this background, she went on to become a composer, singer, and actress triple threat by performing on many stages, singing opera, operetta, and zarzuela and premiering her work at various international film festivals across several countries.
After relocating in the St. Johns area, Dr. Rubí became immersed in the visual arts under the mentorship of artist Paulo Jimenez. With his guidance, Dr. Rubí has become a prolific painter even presenting her series "Stage Works," alongside her musical performance Romanza Cubana at the XVIII edition of the St. Augustine’s Romanza Festival of Music & the Arts.
Beyond her artistic endeavors, Dr. Rubí is an educator that founded and directs the non-profit organization RubiMusic. With RubiMusic, Dr. Rubí works to provide arts education and performance opportunities for children and other young talent as well as bring the arts and classical music to various communities throughout Florida.
