Collection: Marjorie Dodrill
Painting gives me a sense of peace and I try to incorporate that feeling in my paintings. I hope my artwork draws people right to the painting and they feel a connection to it.
Artist Marjorie Dodrill was raised in California and graduated from California State University, Sacramento. When her husband completed University, he joined the US Air Force and their first assignment was in England where Marjorie enjoyed visiting art museums and London galleries. Summer months brought them to Europe where they would visit famous museums and galleries, which stimulated Marjorie’s interest in art. Her husband’s assignments gave them an opportunity to live in many parts of the United States exploring national and international museums and galleries. She has painted all her adult life in oils but will occasionally use acrylics. She loves the luscious texture and vibrant color oil paints provide allowing her to express what she observes in nature.
For the past 22 years Marjorie has been in galleries throughout Central California and along the coast in Mendocino and now here in Florida. She had a solo show at the California State Capitol and has been juried into national art exhibitions in Sarasota, FL and California. Her artwork has been on the cover of regional magazines and she has been featured in Style Magazines in California and Florida. Her work is in private collections locally & nationally.
Her true love is nature painting whether it is a gorgeous flower with that perfect lighting or catching a Great Blue Heron in the woods standing in a stream. Oceans and mountains are also a favorite subject and her hobby is visiting lighthouses and painting them.
Marjorie also enjoys doing commissions and creating a special memory or scene for her clients. She hopes to evoke an emotional response through her paintings.
