Emerging Artist Series, Part 3: A Fresh Perspective

Emerging Artist Series, Part 3: A Fresh Perspective

Gallery500‘s Emerging Artist Series began as a way to introduce our collectors to up-and-coming artists in the local art scene. In the past few months, we have presented an innovative local photographer Brandon Stanley as well as a group of young, talented student artists from Volusia County Schools. For this part of the Emerging Artist Series, we decided to present a different take on what it means to be emerging.

Erwin Dazelle, born in Bayonne, France, has been creating essentially his entire life. His work can be found in private and public collections throughout the world. However, his work has rarely been available in galleries, let alone local Daytona Beach galleries. Gallery500 is fortunate to be the only U.S. gallery representing this tenured artist. Dazelle is quickly leaving his mark on the Daytona Beach art scene.

Dazelle‘s résumé is quite impressive. He began creating at a young age, working under his famous Grandfather André Strauss in the family’s stained glass studio. The studio is still active today, ran by his sister Vanessa, although Dazelle does work on several projects throughout the year. Some of the artists's accolades include the 2010 & 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Brickyard 400 program cover artist as well as the 2010 GRAND-AM Rolex 24 cover artist, just to name a few. His achievements are endless, and it is clear why so many are captivated by his work.

The foundation in stained glass has provided Dazelle a unique point of view. He has always been impressed by the harmony of colors and the ability to tell a story through stained glass. That is an essential component to his work: the story of the artwork, the experience within the process. His designs are simple but emotional. The artist notes

“life isn’t in the studio. The people are the story.”

When working with a client, Dazelle enjoys getting to know the collector, enjoying time with them and experiencing the joys of life together. This inspires Dazelle to create a truly one-of-a-kind masterpiece, unique to each collector.

I immediately felt that joy and excitement when viewing his work. His bold shapes and energizing colors influence the viewer’s reception. You can’t help but be excited when viewing his work. Moreover, Dazelle’s choice of subjects entice the viewer. The artist creates scenes about exciting events, the joys of family, and the privileges of life. I think we all deserve a little bit more beauty and joy in life as Dazelle's work highlights.

Gallery500 has a few select originals available at the gallery. Generally, the artist works on demand, meaning he creates one-of-a-kind originals for individual collectors or businesses. We are lucky enough to have worked with Dazelle on a large public mural now completed in One Daytona, leading to the Daytona Hotel. The artist highlights the history of Daytona Beach, from life by the water to the history of racing at the Daytona International Speedway. He truly captures that excitement that locals and visitors alike enjoy about the area.

Contact us at info@gallery500.art or (386) 262-1912 to set up a private tour of the gallery and see Dazelle’s work first hand or view his collection online

Stay tuned for future events with Erwin Dazelle. We are behind the scenes working on some great upcoming events.

We look forward to seeing you in the gallery soon!

Love the blog item on Erwin Dazelle. Since Bayonne became a sister city with Volusia County, Erwin has contributed as an artist and welcomed us to his beautiful city in France.
