Handcrafted two-piece ceramic sculpture featuring a white and black glaze with coral detailing on the subject's head and red painted lips.
This sculpture is of a woman wearing a large feature of coral on her head. Small birds can be seen on the lower half of the woman, making a home out of the darker part of her silhouette. Take note of the cat ear and ram horn on either side of the woman's face. The figure is hollow, which can only be seen when the piece is opened up in the middle.
This sculpture contains small pebbles that roll within the body, so that it will make unique sounds whenever moved or interacted with. In this way, Fay Samimi is giving her sculpture a voice.
