Growing up in Minnesota, Vickie Wilson attended the University of Minnesota as an art major. Additional studies in Aspen, Colorado summer school and Art Students League, New York City. Birthed on the likes of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning, she moved to New York City where she was introduced to works by artists like Keith Haring, environments like Studio 54, and fell subject to years of watching graffiti covered subway trains, blurs of color, screeching brakes, and the raw emotion of living life in the fast lane. Vickie Started her career by working for a very demanding advertising photographer and transformed these memories into inspiration for painting and ceramic sculpture. Her painting style covers a broad spectrum, from colorful modern abstracts to street style urban art, Art Brut.
Vickie’s career working in advertising continued beyond New York when she moved to Orlando to work in commercials, music videos, television pilots, promotional videos, and projects with Disney.
